 In
the Spring of 2007 we founded the "Aim and Focus
Foundation" as a non-profit organization to raise money
to support our students. The goal of this
foundation is to support fundraising activities that
directly benefit the students of Aim and Focus Karate.
The first objective of
our foundation is to raise money to support students
traveling in the Summer of 2008 to compete in the 10th
World Championship Tournament. This will truly be
an amazing event.
Students wishing to
benefit from the Foundation's efforts must sign a participation agreement.
This agreement will define the student's commitment to
the effort as well as the goals and objectives of the
Foundation.
As your Sa Bom Nim, I
couldn't be more excited about this effort. It
will benefit the entire school. Sadly to say
non-profit status is often used to avoid taxes or simply
benefit from legal provisions afforded these
organizations. I will be happy to discuss our
fundraising efforts and how the money has been
spent. I am passionate about "doing this right".
Our Board of Directors
includes leaders in the local business community. This
group exists to closely monitor the operation of our
Foundation to make sure we carefully follow the legal
guidelines of a non-profit corporation.
Student Participation:
If you want to participate in the extra training
sessions and receive benefits from the Aim and Focus
Foundation, please review, print
and sign the
"World Championships Training
Agreement" (click on the link).
We are ready to attend the World Championship Tournament
!!!!! Students can review the above
participation agreement to get an idea how our
Foundation works.
July 2008 Update:
Registration paperwork has been processed. All
that's left to do now is participate in the Tournament.
We've have been incredibly successful with our efforts
to raise funds and stimulate participation in the
Tournament. In the Fall of 2008 the Board of
Directors of the Foundation will meet to determine the
next event we will sponsor (possibly local tournaments
in Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth and/or Baton Rouge LA).
August 2008 Update:
The location of the tournament has been changed to Orlando, Florida !!!!
While it is disappointing not to be traveling to Korea,
the change does probably mean more students from Aim and
Focus Karate can attend the event. The 8th World
Championship was held in Orlando and it was a huge
success. I'm very excited about this opportunity
for our students to participate in this wonderful
international event. The event will be held
